  • Overview

    The System Analyst operates under general supervision in a team environment. Tasks assigned to this level require a general understanding of the business processes and solution requirements. Work includes facilitating application upgrades, business system modifications, conversions, product launches, business process and content management solutions, and new functionalities in a test environment. Incumbents must be able to work in a changing, fluid environment dedicated to continuous improvement.

    Responsibilities

    Testing and QA

     

    1. Create and execute test plans for
      1. Enhancements to existing systems / programs / processes
      2. Maintenance and bug fixes of existing systems / programs / processes
      3. Brand new systems / programs / processes
    2. Review test plans and expected results with stakeholders and developers before development begins to ensure testing will adequately address business needs
    3. Recreate system processes / functionality and perform regression testing in a test environment so new code can be tested and approved
    4. Facilitate user acceptance testing (UAT) with stakeholders after development and QA testing is complete
    5. Obtain approval from stakeholders and complete appropriate project documentation for SDLC audit purposes and so future modifications in the same area may reuse test plans and scenarios
    6. Document and evaluate test results; identify quality issues and defects; document and track any issues until they have been resolved

    Production Support

     

    1. Analyze, research and document stakeholder requests or reported problems
    2. Provide cycle support to stakeholders for reported problems

    3. Creating and executing test plan if necessary to remedy problem

    4. Obtain approval from stakeholder for problem resolution

    5. Document problem resolution

    6. Utilize the FEU utility when necessary

    Other

     

    1. Participate in facilitation of regular team meetings
    2. Perform other duties as needed

    Qualifications

    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Problem solving and critical thinking; effective communication with both team members and customers; understanding of how this position contributes to the user experience; ability to extract meaning from data in order to maintain high quality control.

     

    Required System Proficiencies:

    1. SQL Databases / T-SQL / SQL Management Studio
    2. MS Office tools: Word, Excel and Access

    3. Web based business systems

    4. Additional preferred proficiencies:

      1. LifePRO/ID3
      2. Access
      3. OnBase
      4. Agile Methodology

     

    Education and Training:

    1. Bachelor's degree in Computer science, Information systems, or other related field, or 1 years equivalent work experience required 
    2. LOMA course Fundamentals of Insurance preferred

     

    Experience:

    1. 1 year of experience with LifePRO/ID3 required
    2. 1 year of experience business analysis/systems testing preferred

    3. 1 year of practical experience in life insurance administration preferred

    4. Exposure to Agile team work methods preferred
